What’s the design, today
Design is at the center of many disciplines, so it’s the perfect tool to invest in everyone's daily life. I think that the design is deeply political.
We no longer do design today as we did yesterday : digital technology has definitely disrupted the practice of contemporary design. Moreover, the metamorphoses of our time, which are related to new technologies, require the designer to commit himself. Truth, Data protection, Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things all are issues that the designer must be aware of.
I consider design as a tool, a form of negotiation with the world, a way of "discussing life" (Sottsass). This undoubtedly explains my particular attraction for design methodology : research approach, experiments, material research, conceptual strategy.
My current thoughts revolve around the link between innovation and the typology of objects.
The postures of critical and radical Italian designers feed my imagination as a designer. They embodied their criticism through theory and through different media. To be honest, I have the impression that this dialogue has broken down, the designer must be a pedagogue, he must talk about the design! This word “design” should not be stolen from him!
